Lesson 5 · The drop

The peak lives on contrast: what goes in, what goes out.

In the everything comes together: kick, bass, hook. It does not need to be complicated — many great drops consist of kick, bass and a single hook. What matters is that it clearly differs from the build-up.

Bassline“Bassline” in the drop’s inspector opens the Bass Lab with the plan’s key and tempo.
Hook“Hook” opens the Melody Lab; freeze the motif so it returns in the second drop.
Check contrastThe coach bar warns if the drop has barely more energy than the part before.
