Rhythm Lab

Euclidean rhythms that orbit each other.

The Rhythm Lab spreads a number of hits as evenly as possible across a number of steps — the Euclidean algorithm behind the tresillo, the clave and many traditional rhythms. Each lane is a ring with its own length. Different lengths run against each other and create polymeters that only repeat after many bars.

How it works

  1. 01

    Stack rings

Up to eight lanes, each with hits, steps and rotation.

  2. 02

    Let them run

Moving lights show where the patterns meet; accents and humanize add life.

  3. 03

    Capture

Export as MIDI with General MIDI mapping — fits any drum rack.
