Melody Lab

Two bars of idea, four bars of hook.

Good hooks grow from a short motif that returns and changes. The Melody Lab builds exactly that way: it invents a two-bar motif along a contour and shapes it into phrases — repeat, call and response, sequence or inversion. Chord tones land on strong beats so the melody fits the harmony. Like the motif? Freeze it and re-roll only the answer. In arp mode the chords become arpeggios.

How it works

  1. 01

    Contour and form

Rising, falling, arch or wave — and how the phrases answer each other.

  2. 02

    Find the motif

Roll until the first two bars land, then freeze.

  3. 03

    Answer and export

Vary only the answer, preview with chords, take it as MIDI.
